Heavy Rain Alert: India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday announced the arrival of southwest monsoon in some areas of the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea. The IMD said that ‘the southwest monsoon has moved forward on 13 May in the southern part of the Bay of Bengal, the southern part of the Andaman Sea, the Nicobar Islands and some parts of the Northern Andaman Sea’. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also informed that, in the next few days, there may be rain in many parts of the country.

According to IMD, thunderstorms and lightning are expected to receive thunder and lightning in many parts of South India and its central India for the next 5 days. At the same time, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu may receive heavy rains in some places for the next 3 days. Apart from this, in Northeast India too, during the next 5 days, there is a possibility of heavy to heavy rainfall with thunderstorms.

IMD has released rain forecast for northwest India. In Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on 13 May, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh on 14 May and Himachal Pradesh on 16-17 May have been expected to receive light to moderate rains with thunderstorms, electricity and strong winds. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert on Tuesday and Wednesday for Mumbai and its surrounding districts like Thane, Raigad and Palghar. In Konkan and Goa on 14 May, while in Central Maharashtra and Marathwada from 14 to 16, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds with strong winds. Also, on May 14, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada can blow strong winds at a speed of 50 to 70 kmph.

On 13 and 16 May, Telangana, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are also likely to have a similar weather, where winds can go up to 40 to 60 kilometers per hour. At the same time, there is a possibility of lightning in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra, Yanam, Rayalaseema and Internal Karnataka, in Lakshadweep on May 13 and in the coastal Karnataka between 13 to 16 May, where the winds may move at a speed of 30 to 50 km per hour.
North East states will rain strongly
According to IMD, in the next four days, there may be light to moderate rainfall with strong winds, thunder and electricity in the next four days. The speed of the winds can reach 40 to 60 kilometers per hour, while on May 13, this speed in Assam and Meghalaya can be up to 70 km per hour. Heavy rains are expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during May 13 to 15 between May 13 and 16. At the same time, there may be very heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya on 13 and 14 May and Tripura on 13 May. The Meteorological Department has warned that the heatstroke may run in West Bengal, Jharkhand and on 14-15 May in sub-Himalayan West Bengal. Apart from this, heat stroke is expected from 15 to 18 May in western Uttar Pradesh and western Rajasthan, and between 14 and 18 May in eastern Uttar Pradesh. On May 13, the sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are expected to have a hot and humid weather.
