Electricity bill: The common people of Delhi are going to get a shock. The electricity bill of the people of the capital is going to increase. Delhi’s electricity customers will face an increase of 7 to 10 percent in the May-June bill. This increase has been done under the Power Purchase Adjustment Cost (PPAC), which has been approved by the Delhi selecting Regulatory Commission (DERC) to the three Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOM) to recover from customers.

PPAC is the amount that is recovered due to increased fuel costs like coal and gas of electricity production companies. It is added as a fixed charge of the electricity bill and a percentage on the energy charge (ie consumption unit).

Discom gets approval

TPDDL is allowed to recover 10.47% PPAC.

After this decision, millions of customers of Delhi will have to pay heavy electricity bills in summer.

The United Residents of Delhi (URD) criticized the decision, saying that arbitrary and legally wrong. He also said why the PPAC rates are kept separate for different discoms, while the cost of fuel is almost the same. Without recovery of PPAC, Discom may face economic crisis. Due to this increase, the burden on the pockets of Delhi’s electricity customers is certain to increase, especially in this summer season when electricity consumption is the highest.
