On behalf of the Department of Military Affairs, Major General GS Chaudhary said that, the President has approved Neeraj Chopra to give an honorary degree of Lieutenant Colonel from 16 April 2025 under the Territorial Army Rules 1948. This honor has been given to him under the government order of 9 May 2025 along with the address of his village Khandra, Panipat (Haryana). Neeraj Chopra held the post of Naib Subedar on 26 August 2016 as a Junior Commissioned Officer in the Indian Army.

Neeraj will be seen again in track and field

Neeraj Chopra won the first gold medal for India at the track and field event at the Tokyo Olympics. However, he won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics. Neeraj has also made the country proud in the World Athletics Championships – he became the first Indian to win gold in this competition in 2023, while he won the silver medal in the earlier edition. Neeraj Chopra will now take part in the 71st Olelen Janus Kusinsky Memorial event to be held in Chorzov, Poland on May 23, as the NC classic event on May 24 in Bengaluru has been postponed. The event was to be hosted by Neeraj himself and many international and Indian players were also going to participate in it, but it has been postponed due to increased military tension between India and Pakistan.
