After the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Hacking Groups associated with Pakistan have carried out more than 1.5 million cyber attacks on many important government websites and IT infrastructure in India. However, only 150 of these attacks were successful. This disclosure has been made by Maharashtra Cyber Department officials on Monday 12 May. Officials said that seven Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) groups who carried out these cyber attacks have been identified. The report is based on the investigation conducted after the Pahalgam terror attack.
According to officials, even though there has been an agreement between India and Pakistan to reduce military tension, but despite this, cyber attacks on Indian government websites continue, which are taking place from Pakistan as well as Bangladesh, Indonesia, Morocco and Middle Eastern countries.
Addressing journalists, a senior Maharashtra cyber official made it clear that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is baseless of the rumors of data theft from the International Airport, Aviation System, Municipal Data and the Election Commission website of India. He said, “Investigation revealed that there was some decrease in cyber attacks after the hostility between India and Pakistan decreased, but they have not stopped completely. Cyber attacks are still going on from countries in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Morocco and Middle East.”
‘Road of Sindoor’ report revealed
The Maharashtra Cyber Department has given this information in a report called ‘Road of Sindoor’. This report has been submitted to all the major legal agencies including the DGP, Intelligence Department of the state. Yashasvi Yadav, Additional Police Director, Maharashtra Cyber, said that according to the report, these cyber attacks are being conducted from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Middle East and Indonesia. The attackers used several techniques, including malware campaigns, distributed dinyl-off-service (DDOS) attack, GPS spoofing and defense of Indian websites (hacking the website by hacking).
Yashasvi Yadav said, “These attacks on India’s important IT infrastructure have been thwarted to a great extent. Many major attacks were stopped in time, which averted a big crisis on national security.”
The 7 Advanced Personal Threat (APT) groups behind these attacks include APT 36 (operated from Pakistan), Pakistan Cyber Force, Team Insene PK, Mysterious Bangladesh, Indo Hex Sec, Cyber Group Hocx 1337 and National Cyber Cruc.
Yashasvi Yadav said that these groups launched a total of 1.5 million targeted cyber attacks on Indian infrastructure. At the same time, the 150 webs that have been involved in the website of Kulgaon Badlapur Municipal Council include. Hackers claimed to steal data from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) as well as telecom companies, some of which have allegedly seen on the darkness.
Apart from this, the website of Jalandhar’s Defense Nursing College was also hacked and defeated. The data of some telecom companies is also feared to be handled by hackers.
