Poco X3 Design

While the international variants of Poco X3 get NFC, the Indian variant brings big battery. We get a 6,000mAh battery, which supports 33W fast charging. The Poco X3 also has a stereo speaker and the smartphone comes with IP53 dust and water resistant ratings.
Poco X3 has been launched with MIUI 12 based on Android 10. Our unit was running on September Android security patch. Many blotware apps and games come before the X3 before and we would suggest you to remove them if they are not needed.
Poco X3 Performance
Poco X3 has enough hardware to give good performance and we did not face any problem when using it. The X3 was fast to load the apps and games and it can very easily do multitasking. We enjoyed watching videos on Poco X3, as the display has good viewing angles and stereo speakers increase experience. The side-mounted fingerprint scanner is fast and uses face unlock to identify the face, which is fast like a physical scanner.
We played Call of Duty: Mobile and Among US on Poco X3 and the device did not show any kind of lag. The screen refresh rate was set to 120Hz by default and we did not change it while playing the game. Call of Duty: Mobile ran easily on high settings without any problem. We played the game for 25 minutes and the smartphone battery fell 7 percent. After gaming, the phone’s touch was a little hot.
Battery life is good and Poco X3 gives you a backup of up to a day without any problem. In our HD video loop test, the phone lasted for 18 hours, 31 minutes, which is quite good. There is support for fast charging and 33W charger is found inside the box. Due to this, the battery was charged up to 57 percent in 30 minutes and 92 percent in one hour.
Poco X3 Cameras
The Poco X3 has a quad-camera setup, with a 64-megapixel primary sensor with F/1.89 aperture, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide angle camera, which has an 119-degree field of view, a 2-megapixel macro camera and a depth sensor. The front has a 20 -megapixel selfie camera. The camera app is easy to use and there are many shooting modes to choose.
Along with HDR, there are quick togles for AI, which gives you the option to control the camera feature during the shooting. The camera UI has changed in MIUI 12 and now it has become easier to use. There is a new Vlog mode, which adds background music and video effects during shooting. This is completely new and is a very useful feature for those who upload videos on social media.
Poco X3 default by default adds watermark to photos, so be sure to close this option in camera settings before taking photos. Its 64-megapixel primary camera takes a 16-megapixel photo by default. The photos shot using primary camera in the daylight had good details and even the text at the distance came clear. Although the camera aggressively presses the blax, causing less details in the shade. Switching on a wide-angle camera shows a large area, but the details decrease. The wide-angle camera also produced a slightly different color tone, which clearly appeared in the output.
Close-ups were good and Poco X3 distinguished well from the subject and background. It also adds depth to the background. Edge detection in the portrait was good and the X3 also gives you the option to set the blur level before taking the shot. The macro camera is limited to a 2-megapixel resolution and lets you get closer to the subject, but the output average.
The low-light camera performance was average. The photos taken in default mode were soft and had watercolor -like effect on them. Enabling the night mode led to a focus on the output – photos were sharp and better details. However, it takes 3-4 seconds to take a shot in night mode. The wide-angle camera is not good for shooting in low-light as it could not catch the primary sensor as much as it could.
The daylight selfie was decent and you have the option to take a protorate shot using a selfie shooter. The AI does not detect the face with a mask and does not blur the background in such cases. The selfie shot in low light was average, but this phone lets you use night mode for selfie.
Verdict
Poco X3 is an upgrade to Poco X2 and it brings some upgrade. It does everything a little better than Poco X2. It gives better performance and the larger battery helps it last long. However, it is much heavier than its predecessor. If you were thinking of buying Poco X2, but you can make up your mind to spend a little more, then you can go with Poco X3, as it gives some good upgrade in the price hike. Realme 7 Pro (Review) is another suitable option, which you can buy at the same price.
