Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed after an encounter with security forces in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. The encounter started in the neighboring Kulgam district, after which the terrorists moved towards Shopian. Joint teams of the Indian Army and paramilitary forces were engaged in operation to neutralize terrorists. The encounter took place after operation vermilion. This operation was India’s retaliation after the cowardly terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
26 innocent citizens were brutally murdered by terrorists in the Pahalgam attack. In response, India launched airstrikes targeting the terrorist structure in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir. In addition, India gave a tough warning that in future any terrorist attack will be considered as war action and a strong reply will be given.
Earlier, officials had said that on the basis of a special input found about the presence of terrorists in Shukru Keller area of the district, security forces started a siege and search operation there.
Officials said that during the search operation, the terrorists opened fire on security forces, which the security forces responded to. He informed that the encounter is going on. The official said that no casualties have been reported from both sides.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his address to the nation that Operation Sindoor has set a new standard in India’s fight against terrorism. He said, “We will give a befitting reply to this on our own terms. We will take strict action at every place from where the roots of terrorism come out. Secondly, India will not tolerate any kind of nuclear blackmail. India will make accurate and decisive attack on terrorist bases developing under the guise of nuclear blackmail. Thirdly, we will not do any differences between the government and terrorism.”
