Hearing the name of Yamaha, your mind will have a motorcycle or scooter’s idea, but Yamaha-musical instruments, AV receivers, EVs, Empilifiers, Speaker Systems and Headphones are also well-known names. Many of these products are technically advanced and are made keeping in mind the more budget customers. Recently, the company has introduced a new range of wireless headphones and earphones in India, including flagship YH-L700A over year headphones. I am going to review them here.

Yamaha YH-L700A is a flagship over year headphones, priced at Rs 34,990. These include Advanced Bluetooth codec support. There is a 3D sound field mode, which also has head tracking and active noise cancellation for directional sound. Are you the best premium wireless headset you can buy? Find out in this review.

Yamaha yh-l700a headphones are fantastic, but heavy

Yamaha yh-l700a Bold and different design is given in. Like Sony and JBL, its handset is not sleek and trim, but looks large and premium as Apple AirPods Max. However, it is slightly lower in size than AirPods Max, but its year cup and padding are quite thick.

Their style is also unique, fabric has been used openly on headband and ear skins. Thick foam has been padded on the year cup so that the over -year fit could be good, it covered my ears completely and made the outside noise make full isolation. Its headband has a metal frame on which is comfortable padding, it can also be adjusted for good fit. Year cups can rotate and tilt can also be done, so that the fit is better. Yamaha logo has been given on the outskirts of both the year cup.

Pading certainly looked comfortable, but still this headset is quite large and heavy which is weighing 330 grams. If you want to listen to music for a long time, it will feel quite weighty. I also felt more with glasses many times with the pressing force of both year cups. Later I became accustomed to this, but still I had to take a break every 45 minutes or around it.

Such other products provide both physical and touch control options, but in the Yamaha YH-L700A, you have been given a physical button to control everything. Its right side has power button, 3D sound button, USB Type C port and playback and volume control for charging. The left side has a button to switch to active noise cancellation and ambient sound modes and a 3.5mm socket for a wired connectivity.

Playback and volume control button are given on the side of the Right Year Cup. It looks good but the buttons do not seem to be very tectral. It is not even what I like. Even after a few days of use, I used to press the wrong button many times. Overall, I will say that its control button does not look easier to use.

In this, you will get Yamaha’s Headphones Controller App which is present on both Android and iOS platforms. With its help, they can be customized along with controlling the basic functions of headphones. The app discovers them after peering from Bluetooth.

In the app, you also get 3D Sound Field Mode, Lying Care and Lying Opimleer, Active Noise Cancellation and Ambient Mode Activation, and Settings for Auto Power of Timer. You can also check the battery level of the headphones in it, but you are not given the option to change the equipment settings. Overall, the app controls its functions, but according to such high-end headset it is quite simple.

Yamaha YH-L700A has 40mm dynamic drivers. Its frequency response range is 8-40,000Hz. For connectivity, the support of Bluetooth 5, SBC, AAC and Qualcomm Aptx Adaptive Bluetooth codes is supported. It also supports Voice Assistant. Its package also features charging cable, stereo cable, flight adapter and hard carry case.

Their battery life depends on how you use them. Excessive use of ANC and 3D eliminates the battery quickly. With ANC, they have been rated for 34 hours to last and 3D sound with ANC is also rated for 11 hours.

I sometimes used 3D sound with ANC and could run 23 hours in single charge. This means that you can hear them all day without charging.

Sound in Yamaha YH-L700A good, but 3D sound not for everyone

Many people turn to Sony, Bose, and Apple’s high and over year headphones. However, Yamaha YH-L700A also gives the best listening experience. When it comes to sound quality, they are amazing. ANC and 3D Sound did a good job but you would not like to use 3D Sound much.

Features such as listening care and listening optimiser work in the background and give better experiences. The volume level is maintained with the help of listening care and the listening optimiser feature customizes the sound based on the sound level that falls inside the ear cups. I did not feel any special difference in music when they turned on or off.

With the help of Qualcomm Aptx Adaptive Support, the audio quality becomes better. With OnePlus 9 (Review) I got a better sound experience than the iPhone 13 (Review). When I started with the Frankie Sinatra of The avalanches, it turned out how the company has worked for years to give better audio exercises.

The sound stage was feeling quite space and luxury. Slow sample elements, mid tempo beat and instrument could all be felt, and this was also being turned on without 3D sound. It also enhances a simple stereo signal thanks to its large drivers and super tuning. It was able to create good details with full size speakers. Its sonic signature is balanced and refined, which gives all frequency a chance to come out well.

The base was tight in the Dirty Sexy Money of David Guetta but did not feel aggressive. Listening to Onur Ozman’s only human was also a very enjoyable experience. Some similar experience is on my Sony with-1000xm4, which is currently the top choice for me in high-end headphones.

A special feature of Yamaha YH-L700A headphones is its 3D sound. It is similar to Apple’s spatial audio technology which is used in airpods headphones and earphones. Interestingly, when this switch is turned on, it works for almost any audio content regardless of the app or operating system, and it is not limited to some apps, as in the case of spatial audio.

It gave different listening effects but the evidence of the audio decreased. Only the Audio Room Mode was the one that maintained good sound quality. Head tracking also did a good job. It was accurately switching to the channel with the head movement. However, overall, I found the mode a little artificial and only found it to be used while watching TV shows or movies.

Active noise cancellation in Yamaha YH-L700A is quite good. But it is not like Sony with-1000xm4 and Apple Airpods Max. Its silence effect was quite good and it was better to know in indoor. It did not do special wonders in outdoor. It depends on the seal that preventing noise and due to my glasses, there was a gap in it so that it was not able to work so well.

Ambient sound mode works well but feels like the sound is coming from the pipe. Natural effects like AirPods Max were not found in it. The headphones are quite good for calling and the connection is stable. There was no shortage in their evidence. The source was able to do this well at a distance of 4 meters from the device.

Verdict

There are some well-known brands in the premium headphone segment. Among them, Yamaha YH-L700A is like fresh air gust. This is a good looking over year headphone pair. It has good sound evidence and some interesting features. In audio products, this product of years makes this product of the company an interesting option at this price.

Its average active noise cancellation performance slightly reduces its experience. These headphones of Yamaha offer detailed, fun sound like Sony with-1000xm4. In the price range of 35 thousand rupees, these Sony WH-1000xm4 and JBL Tour One are slightly expensive. Nevertheless, if you are watching a product for the top notch sound quality, then this device is for you.
